A calmer way to plan care

What is medical travel coordination?

Medical travel involves seeking consultation, testing or treatment away from your usual place of residence. Good coordination reduces avoidable uncertainty—but it does not replace medical judgment or travel planning.

MenHealthWellness can help organise an introduction to independent partner providers, collect preliminary non-sensitive information, align appointment schedules and support follow-up communication.

The selected healthcare provider remains responsible for clinical assessment, diagnosis, eligibility, consent and treatment. Airlines, hotels, insurers and other travel providers remain responsible for their own services.

Continuity mattersBefore travelling, clients should understand who will manage complications or follow-up after returning home. Your local doctor may need to be involved, especially when ongoing monitoring is required.

Travel readiness checklist

Before you book

  • Confirm the provider and proposed service in writing
  • Ask whether a pre-travel assessment or tests are required
  • Arrange appropriate travel and medical insurance
  • Check visa, entry and medication-carriage requirements
  • Allow realistic recovery and follow-up time

Important boundaries

What coordination does not cover

  • It does not guarantee eligibility, outcomes or appointment availability.
  • It is not emergency assistance or travel insurance.
  • It does not replace your home doctor's advice.
  • It does not make immigration, airline or hotel decisions.
  • Clinical complications are managed by healthcare providers.

Medical Travel FAQ

Arrive with fewer unknowns.

Final clinical and travel decisions remain with you and the relevant providers.

Only the treating provider can confirm whether a consultation or treatment is appropriate. They may need records, tests or an in-person assessment before making a final decision.

Travel and accommodation are third-party services. The coordination team may help align your medical schedule with your proposed itinerary, but bookings and their terms remain your responsibility unless a separate service is agreed.

The provider may request a medical summary, medicine and allergy list, relevant test or imaging reports and prior treatment details. Sensitive records should be shared only through an approved secure process.

It varies by consultation, testing, treatment and recovery requirements. Do not finalise non-refundable travel until the provider has clarified the expected schedule.

Before departure, obtain written aftercare instructions, relevant reports, warning signs and contact details. Clarify whether follow-up will be remote, with the overseas provider, or through your home clinician.
